Terms of Service
Last updated: 25 October 2026
1. The service
The Bijou sells short original digital works — tickets consisting of cover art and story text — for personal enjoyment. The Bijou is a digital storefront selling short original love stories presented as a repertory cinema's screenings: poster art, story text and programme notes. Every title, poster and note shown is a complete work of fiction, written and illustrated with the help of AI. No item depicts a real film, cinema, performer, person or identifiable likeness.
2. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or make a purchase. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for everything that happens under your account. Tell us at once if you believe someone else is using it.
3. Orders and delivery
When you complete checkout the chosen tickets are added to your account, where they remain available to you. Prices are shown in US dollars and include any applicable taxes unless stated otherwise. We may refuse or cancel an order that appears fraudulent or mistaken; if we do, we tell you and refund anything already paid.
4. Licence
Each purchase grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to view and keep the item for private use. You may not resell, redistribute, publicly display or use the item for training machine-learning models. All intellectual property in the site and its catalogue remains with us.
5. AI-generated content
Our stories and artwork are produced with the help of generative AI tools and edited by us. Any resemblance to real persons, works or events is coincidental. Nothing in the catalogue is a factual claim about anyone.
6. Acceptable use
Do not attempt to access other users’ accounts, interfere with the site, scrape the catalogue, or use the service for anything unlawful. We may suspend accounts that break these rules.
7. Refunds
Our Refund Policy explains when a purchase can be refunded.
8. Liability
The service is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for consumers under mandatory consumer-protection rules.
9. Changes and termination
We may change these terms by publishing a new version here; continued use after the change means you accept it. You may close your account at any time through the contact page.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the country in which the operator is established, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer rights you have where you live. Disputes we cannot settle amicably go to the competent courts there.
