The Bijou is a digital storefront selling short original love stories presented as a repertory cinema's screenings: poster art, story text and programme notes. Every title, poster and note shown is a complete work of fiction, written and illustrated with the help of AI. No item depicts a real film, cinema, performer, person or identifiable likeness.
1. Who we are
This website (www.soulmatecinima.com) is operated by The Bijou (“we”, “us”). We are the controller of the personal data described in this policy. You can reach us through the contact page.
2. What we collect
Account data — when you register we store your username, email address and a salted hash of your password. We never store passwords in plain text.
Order data — the items you add to your cart and purchase, the time of the order and the account it belongs to.
Messages — if you use the contact form we keep your name, email address and message so that we can reply.
Technical data — our servers log the IP address, browser type, requested pages, referrer and timestamps of each visit for security and troubleshooting.
Campaign data — if you arrive from an advertisement, the link may carry campaign identifiers (for example utm_*, fbclid, ScCid, ttclid, rdt_cid). We keep these for the duration of your browser session so that we can measure which campaigns work.
3. Cookies and marketing pixels
We use an essential session cookie to keep you signed in and to remember your cart. With your awareness, as described in our Cookie Policy, we also load measurement pixels from Meta, Snapchat, TikTok and Reddit. These pixels receive a pseudonymous browser identifier, your IP address, the pages you view and the actions you take (such as viewing an item or completing a purchase). We may also send the same events to those platforms from our server so that they can be matched to the advertisement you clicked. We never send them your name, email address or password.
4. Why we process your data
We process account, order and message data to perform our contract with you (running your account, delivering the digital goods you buy, answering you). We process technical data on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure and working. We process campaign and pixel data on the basis of our legitimate interest in measuring advertising, and, where the law requires it, on the basis of your consent.
5. Who we share data with
Our hosting provider, which stores the site and its logs; the advertising platforms named above, which receive pixel and server-side events; and public authorities where the law obliges us. We do not sell personal data.
6. International transfers
The advertising platforms we use may process data outside your country, including in the United States, under their own safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses). Our own storage is located on the server that hosts this site.
7. How long we keep data
Account and order data: until you delete your account, and for as long after as tax and accounting rules require. Contact messages: up to 12 months after the matter is closed. Server logs: up to 30 days. Campaign identifiers: for your browser session only.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, to withdraw consent, and to lodge a complaint with a data-protection authority. Send any request through the contact page; we answer within 30 days.
9. Children
This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.
10. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top tells you when it last changed; material changes will be announced on the site.
